FINANCE MANAGER

Jacobs & Reeves are looking for someone to help oversee the financial management of the business and to assist them to expand and increase their profitability and to manage the financial strategy of the firm going forward. The role will be hands on with responsibility for the day to day financial operations of the partnership, reporting to and liaising with the partners of the firm in a supportive role, but also providing a realistic voice.

The Finance Manager will be a professional and experienced person, capable of managing a number of tasks as well as leading the Accounts Department.

Below are some of the standard duties that this position will entail.

• Managing the financial strategy of the firm.

• Managing the day to day financial transactions.

• Maximising profitability by preparing reports and analyses, including the preparation of monthly/quarterly management accounts, producing cashflow forecasts, managing budgets and overseeing cashflow management.

• Putting in place robust financial systems and processes

• Improving efficiencies and reducing company costs.

• Completing VAT returns

• Presenting year end accounts.

• Reconciling balance sheets

• Understanding compliance with the SAR rules.

• Developing relationships with external advisers, ie. the Bank/loan providers

The ideal candidate will be fully qualified (ACA/ACCS/CIMA), will have good commercial acumen and strategic business knowledge, along with good interpersonal skills and the ability to persuade and influence and will be committed, enthusiastic and able to drive the business forward.

Experience in a law firm would be helpful, but it not essential

Jacobs & Reeves are looking to recruit a Legal Cashier to deal with the day to day operations required in the Accounts Department.
Key responsibilities:
• Billing
• Payroll using Sage 50
• Client bank reconciliation
• Dealing with the purchase ledger
• Uploading of electronic transfer payments
• Dealing with credit card/debit card payments
• VAT reconciliation
• Legal Help spreadsheet and submissions
• Direct debits
• Office bank reconciliation
• Credit control
• Ensuring compliance with the SAR rules
• Dealing with opening of client ledgers on the accounts system

We are looking for a candidate to be able to manage the following:-

• Providing a service of legal advice and practice to either a public or private organisation, dependent on the job role. This could include child protection, social care, including special educational needs.
• Legal research and advice. 
• Meeting deadlines 
• Writing clear and concise reports 
• Working as part of a team, as well as independently 
• Handling a wide variety of cases spanning a number of challenging and sensitive areas, such as neglect, abuse or adoption 
• Undertaking advocacy, and instructing counsel where necessary 
• Attending public law and legal planning meetings 

• Ability to make important decisions quickly.
• Communicating well, both orally and in writing 
• Problem solving
• Analytical skills
• Proven experience as a childcare solicitor, or barrister 
• Experience of managing a caseload of public cases under minimum supervision.
• Experience of conducting advocacy
• Any previous experience of attending public law outline of legal planning meetings would be highly beneficial.
